Position To Be Filled: Director of Children’s Ministry

Calvary United Methodist Church (www.calvaryumc.com) is seeking God’s provision of the right person to serve as Director of Children Ministry. Calvary United Methodist Church exists to spread the word of Christ in Green Hills, Middle Tennessee, and the world through an emphasis on mission outreach. We currently serve approximately 400 families, including 175 children (infants through 6th grade). We encourage all potential candidates to become familiar with us before making application.

The Director of Children’s Ministry will cast vision, develop and oversee volunteers, programs, and curriculum to provide a biblically-based, well-rounded ministry to children (birth through 6th grade) and their families, consistent with the purposes of Calvary UMC. He or she will lead by example to build teams for Sunday activities and reach children for Christ, enable them to grow in their relationships to God and one another, and to equip them for ministry. In collaboration with other staff, he or she will plan for the future growth and development of Calvary’s children’s ministry.

Attributes and/or Qualifications

Exhibits a mature faith in Jesus Christ with a strong knowledge of scripture.

Loves children and possesses and enthusiastic attitude and call to ministry with children and their families.

A commitment to the message and purpose of Calvary and the United Methodist Church in general.

Experienced children ministry leader (experience in children’s ministry leadership, education/program planning).

Ability to set priorities and take strategic objectives and motivate children and families, including nurturing the staff and families in the Young Children’s School.

Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.

An advanced degree from a seminary or other educational institution with a focus on ministry is desirable.
