Reports To: Executive Officer, New Church Starts
Essential Functions: Creates and maintains excellent virtual communities and networks including environments and opportunities for church planters to learn from and support one another. Develops and maintains marketing/public relations for Path 1 that includes working with staff and others to provide excellent website, print material and news releases and coordinates with other United Methodist agencies and subcontractor deliverables.
Requirements: The successful candidate will be passionate about reaching people for Christ through new church starts. We seek someone who thrives in fast paced, high-volume, strategic, team-based environments; naturally seeks to create systems and processes that support networks of innovators; must be comfortable cross-culturally, cross-ethnically, and have diverse experience with diverse people; is an excellent sounding board, project manager and implementer of big ideas in practical ways; has ability to clarify concepts and to move concepts to appropriate implantation or action; is an outstanding communicator (deep listener and articulate); has ability to express faith and have a personal commitment to growing in faith. Must have demonstrated professional and academic knowledge and recognized experience in writing for a national audience, utilizing Web 2.0 to build virtual communities, blogging; demonstrated proficiency in overseeing effective delivery in the areas of communication, marketing and public relations; possesses computer and electronic media skills. Involvement in the United Methodist Church preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field; knowledge of building virtual communities, Marketing/Communications/Public Relations; four to five years of directly related work experience; track record of fruitfulness in previous assignments – specifically growing a contact list virtually; writing for a national audience; experience with strategic planning consulting and doing best practice based qualitative research, while not required, would be preferred.
